Though Woodstock was the name of the area since it was settled and there was a postmaster here as early as 1833, it wasn’t officially a city until 1897. Due to the arrival of the railroad, Woodstock became a shipping hub in the late 1800s with cotton, rope and other agricultural products leading the way.
Downtown Woodstock is a shopping destination for people throughout the area. With strong historic influences, downtown features locally-owned shops, art galleries, a book store and dining. The downtown Woodstock area is great for a daylong shopping adventure.
