Quick History
Originally incorporated as Kramer in 1883, Bremen was renamed in honor of Bremen, Germany, and grew into a thriving railroad town where the Chattanooga, Rome and Columbus Railroad crossed the Georgia Pacific line. That rail access helped shape Bremen’s future as a manufacturing hub, especially in textiles and men’s clothing. Over time, the city became known for its suit-making heritage, with companies like Sewell’s helping establish Bremen as a proud center of West Georgia industry.
Fun Fact: Bremen was once known as the “Clothing Center of the South” thanks to its long history in textile manufacturing and men’s suits.
