How two Metro Brokers leaders helped bring equity, education, and action to Douglas County
Fair Housing isn't a chapter in a textbook. It's a living commitment, one that requires voices willing to speak up, leaders willing to act, and communities willing to listen. This April, two members of our Metro Brokers family helped make that commitment impossible to overlook.
Amy McCoy and Valery Rivera, working through the West Georgia Board of REALTORS®, spearheaded a Fair Housing initiative that earned recognition at the county, state, and industry levels and, more importantly, sparked real conversation in the communities where we live and work.
In alignment with April being nationally recognized as Fair Housing Month by the National Association of REALTORS®, Douglas County officially designated April as Fair Housing Month locally, a meaningful step that mirrors the broader significance of this cause at the community level.
The West Georgia Board received formal recognition from the Douglas County Commissioners, along with a State Senate proclamation honoring the Fair Housing Exhibit. Amy McCoy also received individual recognition from the State Senate for her contributions to the initiative.
These aren't just titles and certificates. They're markers of something much more important: a community taking Fair Housing seriously, in part because people like Amy and Valery refused to let it be treated as anything less
At the heart of this initiative is The Keys to Equity Fair Housing Exhibit: a thoughtfully designed experience created to help people understand the history, legal responsibility, and ongoing relevance of Fair Housing in a way that is both accessible and actionable.
The exhibit isn't just for real estate professionals. It's for anyone who lives in, buys in, or belongs to a community (which is to say, all of us). It serves as an opportunity for education, reflection, and meaningful action across both the industry and the neighborhoods we serve.

FAIR HOUSING ADVOCATE & INITIATIVE LEAD — Amy drove the initiative from concept to completion, managing the vision, execution, and community outreach that brought the exhibit to life and earned her individual recognition from the Georgia State Senate.
