This course offers a comprehensive understanding of franchising as a pivotal, highly regulated form of business ownership and operation, crucial for business brokerage in Georgia and the entire USA.
Over four hours, Marty will delve into the nature of franchising, exploring its definition, historical evolution, legal intricacies, and operational mechanics. The curriculum covers the distinctions between affiliated and unaffiliated franchises, the roles of franchisors and franchisees, and the strategic advantages and pitfalls from both perspectives.
You will examine the legal landscape, including the FTC Franchise Rule, Franchise Disclosure Document requirements, and other federal and state regulations. Additionally, key points of franchise negotiation such as fees, contract terms, and territory rights will be discussed.
The course concludes with practical insights on working with franchises as a licensed business broker, focusing on site selection, demographic analysis, and compliance with building requirements.
