Quick History
Duluth, previously named Howell’s Crossing, was originally occupied by the Cherokee tribe. Cotton merchant Evan Howell settled the area after constructing a road connecting his cotton gin with Old Peachtree Road. After the railroad was built in the town in the 1870s, it was renamed Duluth, and the economy boomed.
