Dallas was named after former U.S. Vice President George M. Dallas. Dallas was Vice President under President James K. Polk. The original 40 acres that were incorporated as the city of Dallas were purchased in 1854 for $1,000.
Can't Miss
Picket’s Mill Battlefield Historic Site is a Civil War battlefield from an 1864 battle that served as one of the few Confederate victories in Georgia. The battlefield is one of the best preserved in the country and features a museum, earthworks and trails.
