Curb appeal is a huge factor when selling a home. Here are five to-do list items to get you on the path to creating a first impression for your home that wows.
1. Clean up the driveway and exterior
The simplest things can create a well-maintained appearance! Use the strongest setting on your hose to wash your driveway. Give your siding a good hose down too.
2. Tidy the yard
Take a look at the whole picture and note what could use some TLC. Are there patchy areas of grass that need to be filled in? Are the flowers sporadically blooming or are they in a neat garden area that is free of weeds? Do any trees need to be removed or looked at by a professional?
3. Add a fresh coat of paint
You don't have to paint your entire exterior unless it truly needs it. However, touching up around windows and doors can add to an overall manicured look. It's a good idea to wipe down exterior windows as well.
4. Make easy updates
Examine your mailbox and lighting fixtures. If any of these are heavily outdated, rusted, and/or in generally poor condition, it's time for an upgrade.
5. Keep it neutral
Think of this as outdoor decluttering and depersonalization. Put away garden trinkets, children's toys, or pet supplies. Having these items out of the way will allow potential buyers to see the space as a blank canvas.
