Have you ever found yourself browsing the beautiful homes on Zillow and wondering what it would be like to live there? Well you are not alone.
Zillow recently took a look at their most popular neighborhoods in 2018 and noticed a trend. Out of the 20 communities on the list, all but 2 have median home prices in the seven-digit range. Three of the neighborhoods on the list were located right here in the metro Atlanta area. Tuxedo Park, Kingswood, and Brandon were numbers 2, 11, and 15 on the list respectively. The rankings were calculated by the highest number of page views since the beginning of 2018.
A Zillow representative called this type of home shopping “aspirational browsing.” When listings with price tags in the millions are 35X as popular as a typical home on the site, it seems to reflect a growing trend. Potential home shoppers are highly interested in looking outside their budget and seeing what is out there. These three Atlanta neighborhoods have an average median home price of $1.95 million. This truly qualifies the neighborhoods for the aspirational browsing status for the average home shoppers.
Tuxedo Park is a high-end community located in Buckhead where often you will find homes with large cultivated grounds surrounded by fences and privacy gates. Also located in Buckhead, Kingswood offers pedestrian-friendly streets, a quiet atmosphere, and homes on cul-de-sacs. Brandon is at the epicenter of all the community activity for Buckhead while still offering privacy and space to residents looking to get away from the traffic.
With the popularity of programs like House Hunters and Million Dollar Listing, it’s clear that the public is interested in taking a peek inside gorgeous homes, even if they can’t afford to make an offer. Aspirational browsing has become a national pastime whether you are in the market for a home or not.
