Metro Brokers sponsors and builds fourth Habitat House
Metro Brokers/GMAC Real Estate recently sponsored and built its fourth
Habitat house in Cobb County, Georgia, for a single mother and her
six-year old daughter. The blitz build, constructing a home in one week,
took place at Hillcrest subdivision on Hillcrest Road in Mableton with
an official ribbon cutting ceremony the next week.
“Many of our sales associates and employees gave their time, money and
sweat to build this year’s Habitat House and I’m very proud,” said
Levent. “I enjoyed seeing everyone on the job site chipping in and
having fun in the process.”
Many sales associates and employees had never volunteered for Habitat
before this year and learned what it takes to build a house. Others had
volunteered on all three of Metro Brokers’ previous Habitat homes and
jumped in to help wherever they were needed, whether it was hammering,
sweeping, laying sod, giving out water, selling t-shirts, or cleaning.
Either way, veterans and “newbies” to Metro Brokers’ Habitat project
said over and over again that they were glad they volunteered. They all
explained that they’d do it again because of the fun and camaraderie as
well as knowing they were making a difference in their community.
“We’re in the business of making families’ dreams of homeownership a
reality, so it only makes sense that we all work together to build a
Habitat house,” explains Marsha Wells of the Peachtree City office,
chairperson of Metro Brokers’ Habitat committee. “It’s such a worthy
cause.”
Families must invest 200 “sweat equity” hours on other Habitat homes and
take 100 hours in classes to learn how to maintain their home before
being considered for a home. Habitat homeowners are also chosen on the
basis of housing need and their ability to repay the no-interest, no
profit mortgage.
Metro Brokers/GMAC Real Estate promotes employee volunteerism. Habitat
for Humanity is just one of the many community projects sales associates
are involved in. Just a few of the projects sales associates volunteer
for include: Toys for Tots, Meals on Wheels, the Peachtree Road Race,
revitalizing older neighborhoods, missions to third world countries, and
donating school supplies to children in need.
Metro Brokers/GMAC Real Estate, established in 1979, has 22 metro
Atlanta offices and offers a wide range of real estate services
including residential and commercial sales; pre- and post-license
training; corporate relocation; new home sales and marketing; and
insurance, mortgage and title/closing services.
The company is the largest GMAC Real Estate franchise in the world and
the 33rd largest real brokerage company in the country in terms of units
sold. The company has more than tripled in size over the last five years
with more than 2,800 licensees, making the company the largest license
holder in the state of Georgia.
