Real Trends names Metro Brokers largest real estate service provider in Georgia for 3rd year in a row

Metro Brokers/GMAC Real Estate has been named the largest real estate service provider in Georgia for the fourth consecutive year by Real Trends, a national publication considered to be the leading source of information on trends and analysis of the real estate industry.

Real Trends surveyed more than 800 leading brokerage firms across the nation, some with as many as 500 offices or more and listed on the stock market, to compile a list of the top 25 real estate service providers in the country.

Metro Brokers was one of only three real estate service providers in Georgia to make the list. Coming in at no. 14 in the nation, Metro Brokers moved up five spots from last year and 10 spots from 2004, which was the first year the national survey was conducted.

The rankings are based on combined units in brokerage, mortgage, insurance, warranty and title services. Metro Brokers closed 13,189 transaction sides and 10,215 settlement services in 2006 for a total of 23,404 real estate service transactions – a 23% increase over the year before.

GMAC Real Estate, based in Oak Brook, Ill. which operates company-owned stores in Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, made the Real Trends list as the 12th largest brokerage firm in the nation. Metro Brokers is an independently owned franchise of GMAC Real Estate and thus was ranked separately.

Real Trends ranked only the largest diversified real estate service providers that reported at least one settlement service in addition to brokerage. To avoid any misrepresentation, Real Trends only accepted numbers that have been verified by an outside auditing firm.

A list of The Real Trends 25 was published in the May 2 issue of the The Wall Street Journal.
