Two sales associates from Metro Brokers’ Perimeter office, Dixie Schantz and Chris Adams, and Valerie White of the Woodstock office recently received the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation from the Seniors Real Estate Specialist Council of the National Association of Realtors (NAR).

SRES is geared toward the active adult community. To receive the designation, candidates must complete a comprehensive, two-day course developed by NAR. The SRES course covers topics including trends related to the 55+ population; retirement income considerations; key differences in housing options, from age-restricted communities to assisted living; and ways Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security affect real estate decisions of those 55 and older.

“Baby boomers are one of the fastest growing markets today,” said Schantz. “Being over 55 and thinking of retirement myself, I saw this as a good opportunity to explore what is available for active lifestyles. I learned about the possibilities available for baby boomers looking to move closer to their children, downsize, buy a second home and more.”

Schantz joined Metro Brokers in 2005. In addition to real estate, she is president of an investment company. She has a B.A. in Learning Disabilities from Florida Atlantic University and resides in Sandy Springs.

Adams has practiced real estate with Metro Brokers for more than two years. She holds a B.S. in Education from Ohio State University and a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University. She lives in Sandy Springs.

White received her real estate office in October of 2006 and specializes in new homes and residential resales. Prior to Metro Brokers, she had more than 25 years of customer service and accounting experience. She lives in Woodstock.
