The Builder-Developer Marketing Group of Metro Brokers/GMAC Real Estate announced today that it has listed a new 152-home, amenity-laden community named Whitestone on Hwy. 5 in southwestern Douglas County.

A longtime BDMG client, Brand Homes, will be the sole builder in Whitestone and expects to begin construction on the first homes by May 1. Pre-construction pricing is expected to start in the low to mid-$300,000 range.

More than $1 million in subdivision amenities are already in place and include a two-story community clubhouse, a junior Olympic pool with a separate zero entry kids pool and mushroom fountain, two clay surface tennis courts, a picnic pavilion and a children’s playground. The community also boasts more than 34 acres of green space with two miles of walking trails featuring several elaborate wooden bridges crossing the creek that runs through the community.

Homes in Whitestone are expected to feature Craftsman-like exteriors with a mixture of brick, stone and Hardiplank along with cedar shake accents. Home plans will include four or five bedrooms or a bonus room in lieu of a fifth bedroom. Other features include side-entry garages, architectural shingles, granite kitchen countertops and vaulted ceilings.

Home sites range from half an acre to more than an acre with many home sites bordering green space. Most home sites will accommodate basements.

The community lies within the South Douglas Elementary, Fairplay Middle and Alexander High school district.

Karen Hughes of the West Cobb office has been named the new home sales specialist for Whitestone. A Minnesota native, she has been a resident of Douglas County for 10 years and a Metro Brokers sales associate since 2004. She is expected to begin her onsite duties May 1 and will be based out of the community clubhouse, which will function as an information and sales center.

Whitestone will be the third active new home community in metro Atlanta for Brand Homes. The company also builds homes in Bramlett Meadows in Paulding County and The Crest at River Trace in Newton County.

Brand Homes was named Builder of the Year by the Builder-Developer Marketing Group in 2004 and is on pace to close more than 100 homes this year – the most ever for the company since its inception in 2000.

Whitestone is located on Hwy. 5 in southwestern Douglas County. To reach Whitestone, take I-20 to Exit 30 (Post Road) and travel south approximately eight miles. Turn left on Hwy. 166 and then right on Hwy. 5. Whitestone will be a quarter of a mile on the right.
