What are the requirements for getting a Georgia real estate license?
You must successfully complete a 75-hour salesperson’s pre-license course, pass a state exam with a score of 75% or higher, and be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate or GED equivalent. You must also obtain a certified criminal history report indicating whether you have any record of criminal history. This report must be obtained no more than 60 days prior to picking up your license. Back to Top

Can I obtain a real estate license if I’ve had a criminal conviction?
You will be required to submit an Application for Person with Prior Criminal Conviction(s) or Disciplinary Sanction(s) to the Georgia Real Estate Commission (GREC). This application is available on pages 23-24 of the AMP Candidate Handbook. The GREC may approve or deny your application, depending on your circumstances. Back to Top

Can I get a refund after I've purchased the course?
IN-CLASS COURSE FEES: No refunds are issued once you’ve attended any in-class session. The academy charges a $30 cancellation fee and a $65 book fee for any refund issued prior to attending the first class of the course. COMPUTER-BASED COURSE FEES are non-refundable. Back to Top

Do I need to buy textbooks?
The cost of tuition for in-class courses includes the books and materials. Computer-based courses do not require textbooks. No additional purchases are necessary, although supplemental resources are available for purchase through the academy. Click here for a Book Order Form. Back to Top

Can I transfer to another in-class course after I’ve already started one?
If you’ve attended less than 50% of the course, then you may transfer one time only to another in-class pre-license course at no additional charge. The transfer must be completed within one (1) year of the original enrollment date. After one year, re-enrollment will be required. Back to Top

What happens if I miss any classes?
You’re required to attend all of the required minimum 75 hours. Any missed required attendance will have to be made up before taking the course final exam. There is a $10 fee paid for each make-up session attended and all make-up must be completed within 90 days of the course start date. After 90 days, re-enrollment will be required. Back to Top

What happens if I fail the school final exam?
You must achieve a score of 75% or higher on the written course final exam. If you don’t pass the final exam the first time, you may retake the final exam one time at no charge. All testing must be completed within one (1) year of course start date. If you fail to achieve a passing score on a retake examination, you must repeat all course instruction before taking another examination. A re-enrollment fee of $220 is required. Back to Top

What happens once I enroll myself in an online class?
You should receive an e-mail confirmation of your order and student receipt. If you purchased a CD format, the course materials will be shipped to you via UPS Ground Service the following business day. CompuTaught™ course student log-in is accessed via the website www.mycoursepage.com. Back to Top

How much time do I have to complete the computer-based course?
You have 180 days from the date of purchase or from the date of re-enrollment to complete the course. A maximum of three 60-day extensions may be purchased for pre-license courses. The computer-based pre-license and post-license courses require a timed and/or proctored final exam after completion which is administered at the Atlanta location. Back to Top

Can I download my computer-based course?
If you don’t want to be connected to the Internet for the duration of the course, you should purchase the CD-ROM version. Back to Top

Can I transfer to an in-class course if I don't like the computer-based version?
The money paid for a computer-based course and lessons completed are not transferrable to an in-class course. You may re-enroll for an in-class course at the reduced price of $220. Back to Top

Is private tutoring available?
Private tutoring is available but time cannot be applied toward any pre-license attendance requirement. Private tutoring is provided independently of Metro Brokers Real Estate Academy at the rate of $35.00 per hour for individuals or $50.00 per hour for a group of up to 5 students. Where can I find information about the state exam?
The AMP Real Estate Candidate Handbook includes pricing, location, and comprehensive information about taking your state exam with AMP. The state licensing exam is administered weekdays at four testing centers in Georgia. The exam fee is $97 and payment in full is required at the time of registration. The one time license fee of $170 is paid when you pick up your license after passing the state exam. Back to Top

I passed the salesperson's examination. Is there a time limit for paying for and picking up my license?
Any person who passes a salesperson's examination must apply for an active or inactive license within three months of the exam date. If you don’t apply until after three months but before twelve months, the license fee will double. If you don’t apply for a license within twelve months, you must retake the state examination before you can apply for a license. Back to Top

You may not begin brokerage activity until your broker receives your wall certificate and pocket card from the Georgia Real Estate Commission. Back to Top

If I’ve had a license in another state, can I obtain a reciprocal license in Georgia?
You may be eligible to obtain a reciprocal license without taking the state examination if you’ve passed an exam for the type of license you seek in Georgia, have met all requirements imposed by the state in which you’re licensed, and are currently licensed in good standing. May I obtain a license in another state by reciprocity?
